Congratulations to the 2016 Intramural Funding Awardees

In 2015, the Intramural Funding Program received the largest number of applicants during their December application cycle, and from this cycle, three faculty members and one fellow were awarded funding in February 2016. The award supports up to $40K for faculty and up to $10K for fellows, for a two-year period. 

The Intramural Funding Program is supported by internal funds from The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and is managed by administration within Clinical Research Services at Nationwide Children's. The following faculty members and fellows were awarded funding for their research projects in February 2016.

  • Geoffrey Heyer, MD (faculty): "The Electrographic and Neuroendocrine Characteristics of Adolescent Nausea During Tilt Table Testing, the ENCHANT Study" (Pediatrics/Neurology)
  • Elizabeth Lucas, MD (faculty): "Evolution of the Urogenital Microbiomes of Healthy and Infection Prone Prepubescent Girls" (Urology)
  • Daniel Malleske, MD, (faculty) and Miriam Conces, MD (fellow): "Cytomegalovirus Infection and Necrotizing Enterocolitis" (Neonatology/Pathology)
  • Keegan Ziemba, MD (fellow): "Evaluation of Immune Function in Patients on Mechanical Circulatory Support" (Critical Care)
