Center for Clinical and Translational Science: Cite & Submit Updates

(From the November 2015 issue of Research Now)

Since July 1, 2013, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has required that investigators "Cite & Submit" the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) grant whenever CTSA-supported resources have been utilized to conduct study-specific research. The CTSA grant is administered through the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences at The Ohio State University, and Nationwide Children's Hospital is the pediatric partner within The Ohio State University hub.

Investigators at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's must Cite & Submit the CTSA grant when accessing services from the following core resource(s) listed below or when receiving CTSA funds:

  • Drug and Development Device Services (DDDS)
  • Biopathology Center Core Services (BPC)
  • RISI Research & Development (formerly Research Data and Computing/RDC)

If investigators have been supported during the 2015-2016 year by any of these core resources, they must Cite & Submit the CTSA grant.

For the time period of July 2013 through April 30, 2015, the following cores were also CTSA-supported and any investigators accessing services from these cores during that time period for study-specific research must also Cite & Submit the CTSA grant in relevant publications that resulted from that research:

  • Biobehavioral Health Services Core (July 2013-September 2013)
  • Biostatistics Core (September 2014-April 30, 2015)
  • Clinical Research Services (July 2013-April 30, 2015)

To ensure that our institutions are in compliance, investigators should:

  1. Cite CTSA grant UL1TR001070 with their publications.
  2. Submit final, peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to the digital archive for PubMed Central no later than 12 months after publication.

Please email for assistance from the Center for Clinical and Translational Science if you need guidance with adhering to these Cite & Submit guidelines.
