(From the August 2015 Issue of MedStat)
Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center are collaborating to provide crisis emergency evaluation for the Franklin County pediatric and adolescent population (Nationwide Children’s focusing on ages 14 and under; OSUWMC Harding Hospital focusing on ages 15-17). Families and community referral sources have access to two hospital systems that provide specialized, quality crisis stabilization services.
The inpatient psychiatric unit at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center – Harding Hospital transitioned to an adolescent-only unit. The clinical care and programming at Harding is now geared toward the developmental needs of adolescents aged 12-17. Nationwide Children’s Hospital continues to provide inpatient psychiatric care and youth crisis stabilization observation services to children and teens aged 3-17. With this change, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will be the only inpatient psychiatric provider in central Ohio for children under the age of 12. Nationwide Children’s and OSU Wexner Medical Center will collaborate so that each child has access to the most appropriate psychiatric inpatient care.
For NCH Providers Only: If you need to make a referral for youth experiencing a behavioral health emergency, call Nationwide Children’s Outpatient Crisis Team at (614) 719-9945.
