Recognizing You On Doctor's Day

A message from John Barnard, MDRichard Brilli, MD; and R. Lawrence Moss, MD

National Doctor’s Day is March 30. On behalf of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, we celebrate this special day by gratefully recognizing your innumerable contributions to best outcomes. Physicians contribute an extraordinary amount of time, energy and commitment to excellence in patient care – days, nights, weekends and holidays – 24/7/365. Here in Central Ohio and at Nationwide Children’s, our children and their families are the beneficiaries of the hard work of the nation’s very best general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, surgeons and other child health physicians on our medical staff and in our community. What a privilege is it to have you on our team as we set a new standard for excellence in care, education and discovery. Thanks for all you do this day, and every day.

Nationwide Children’s Granted Osteopathic Recognition

Recently the Pediatric Residency program at Nationwide Children’s was granted "Osteopathic Recognition" by the ACGME, being the first and currently only pediatric program to achieve this distinction. Due to this, the current Dual Accredited residency program will become an osteopathic training track in our main pediatric residency program. This will be the only such track in pediatric training nationally.

The track directors will be Drs. Kimberly Wolf and Alexander Rakowsky, with Dr. John Mahan as the program director. The program will have at least 4 residents in the osteopathic training program and may increase the number depending on match results.

Nationwide Children’s has a long tradition of supporting the training of both osteopathic medical students and residents, and this is the next step. Program leadership is very grateful to their colleagues at Doctors Hospital and Dr. Carl Backes for all of their work and support of the Dual program over the years and look forward to our further interactions with the Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine as the program strives to become one of the leaders in providing training to osteopathic physicians.
