(From the November 2013 Issue of MedStat)
Commencing in 2014, the Medical Staff has created an endowment to provide $2,000 scholarships to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) and Physician Assistants (PA) who are employed or leased by Nationwide Children’s to obtain continuing education. The scholarship fund, named the Professional Development Scholarship, is available to all Nationwide Children’s hired or leased APRNs and PAs, who are in good standing clinically and professionally and endorsed by the appropriate manager. Applications will be reviewed quarterly by the Advanced Practice Professional (APP) Council and awarded each quarter. The APP Council will submit an annual report to the Medical Executive Committee. These educational scholarships will help the APRNs and PAs gain new knowledge and bring that knowledge back to their colleagues, their departments and Nationwide Children’s. The plan is to award 12 scholarships in 2014 and the APP Council will request funding annually from the Medical Executive Committee.
