Michael Bolton Michael Bolton, a pediatric Infectious Disease Fellow, joined the lab in 2009. Michael was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana. He graduated from Bolton High School (seriously), Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a BS in Kinesiology (that's right, phys ed!) before moving to Shreveport, LA where he received his MD from LSU. He stayed in Shreveport to complete his Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residency and then trekked north to Columbus, OH for training in a Pediatric Infectious Disease fellowship here at Nationwide Children's Hospital. I am in Dr. Sheryl Justice's lab in the Center for Microbial Pathogenesis working on the maternal immune response to E. coli mediated preterm birth using a mouse model. I felt this project to be the most clinically relevant to my future practice and is a great educational opportunity for me. My wife, Mittie, is a lawyer for a Louisiana firm and was my high school tennis partner. We are excited about moving back to our southern roots in the future. I am staunch supporter of the LSU Tigers, Chicago Cubs, New Orleans Saints, and the Univeristy of North Carolina basketball (per the wifey). |

Shareef Dabdoub Shareef Dabdoub, a graduate student, joined the lab in 2007. Shareef graduated from Turpin High School in Cincinnati, OH. He attended the University of Cincinnati majoring in Computer Science and graduated with honors. In 2004, he married Mona. Shareef continued his education, pursuing a Masters degree in Computer Science while working as a Software Developer. Shareef decided to continue his graduate education further, changing his focus to Computational Biology, and was accepted to the Biophysics Program in the summer of 2006 at The Ohio State University. Mona was accepted into the Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology program a year later. Shareef’s area of research emphasis is scientific visualization and image analysis with an additional focus in microbial pathogenesis. |

Dennis Horvath Dennis Horvath, a graduate student, joined the lab in 2007. Dennis graduated from Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, OH. He attended John Carroll University and majored in biology and graduated with honors. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant at Case Western Reserve University in laboratory that was part of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group for a year. Dennis decided to pursue Ph.D. in the biological sciences and was accepted to the Integrated Biomedical Research Program (IBGP) in the summer of 2006 at The Ohio State University. His area of research emphasis is microbial pathogenesis, and he is particularly interested in innate immunity and host-pathogen interactions. Dennis is engaged to be married in Italy in 2010. His fiancé, Sally, is completing her training as a pharmacist in Atlanta, GA. He is an avid fan of the Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. |

Rollin Li Rollin Li, a research associate, joined the lab in 2006. Rollin has a master's degree in cell biology from Amoy University. Previously, he worked in a microarray core at OSU. He grew up in a very famous town in China and got his education and started his biomed research career in mid 80’s. He might have become a skilled carpenter if there was no “higher education reform” and “opening to the outside world” policies in China late 70’s. He was an expert on animal embryo micromanipulation before he went to Israel and Germany as a visiting scholar. Before coming to USA, he served as manager in a biotech company. He likes to travel the world and even to be a spaceman to walk on other planets. |
