Biography

John A. Bauer, MD is a principal investigator in the Center for Perinatal Research at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Dr. Bauer’s central research interest is to conduct basic science with an opportunity to impact therapy. His current investigations are involved in addressing the following questions: How do reactive oxygen and reactive nitrogen species (so-called “oxidants”) participate in chronic disease? What are the mechanisms by which cellular oxidant injury occur? What are the consequences? How can we rationally develop better therapeutic strategies to affect these processes? Dr. Bauer is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Pharmacy, Department of Pediatrics, The Ohio State University College of Medicine.
