Residency Salary and Benefits

Those selected for the residency program receive the following salary and benefits:

Salary Information

The following is a breakdown of resident salaries for 2009-2010:

  • PGY-1 $45,308.00
  • PGY-2 $46,741.00
  • PGY-3 $48,216.00
  • PGY-4 $51,062.00

  • PAID RELOCATION

    A "matched student" who moves to Columbus, Ohio to begin residency will receive up to $3,200 to assist with relocation expenses

    PAID TIME-OFF

    21 Days Vacation yearly for all 4 years. 7 days conference time yearly during PGY-2, 3,& 4. 7 Days off to Interview during PGY-3 or 4 years

    HOLIDAY BREAK

    Additional time off for major holidays based on departmental holiday schedules.

    PAID MEDICAL LEAVE

    36 days over 4 years for personal illness, family illness, bereavement, birth of a child, adoption.

    PAID PARKING FEES

    Children's Hospital & The Ohio State University.

    Academic Fund
    $100 _ PGY-1, $550 _ PGY-2, $650 _ PGY-3 & 4; Uses: Professional meetings, medical books, journals, software, professional memberships.

    Meals & Beverages
    Monthly Meal Allowance with additional "On-Call Meals" at Children's Hospital. Coffee Service in Resident Center.

    Palm Pilots
    Palm Pilots are provided to residents free of charge.

    Lab Coats & Scrubs
    2 Children's Hospital lab coats; 2 OSU lab coats and 2 sets of scrubs for each Children's and OSU.

    Sponsored Life Support Certs & Renewals
    AAP's Neonatal Resuscitation Course, Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Trauma Course.

    FACULTY APPOINTMENT

    AHA Handbook of Emergency Cardiac Care. Harriet Lane Nelson's Pocketbook of Pediatric Antimicrobial Therapy. Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation.
