The links below will provide you and your family additional information on available education resources, as well as definitions of common terms.
A variety of books on childhood cancer may be found in the Applied Innovation Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Resource Library on J5. You may borrow books from this library by filling out the index card and placing it in the index card file on top of the file cabinet in the resource library. This unit library is available 24 hours a day to the parents of children hospitalized on J5. Copies of many of the same titles also are available in the treatment room of the Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
In addition to the print library, there are three computers with Internet access located on J5 – one in the parent lounge, one in the resource library and one in the “connector” (the waiting area just before you enter the patient are of the unit).
The Janet Orttung-Morrow, MD, Family Health Information Center is located with the Children’s Hospital Library on the second floor of the Education Building. This center is a multimedia library providing child-related health information to the public.
The Family Health Information Center is open 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
As part of its clinical expansion, Nationwide Children’s opened a 5,000-square-foot Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Family Resource Center that provides amenities to families for relaxation, education and respite. The space features the family library with online access and hard copy materials and two teaching classrooms where an educator can help families learn complex care.
