Support and Service Coordination

The Hearing Program Coordinator, social worker, speech therapist and audiologist will help you plan for your child’s success.

  • If your child is younger than three years of age and has a confirmed sensorineural hearing loss, Help Me Grow and the Regional Infant Hearing Program (RIHP) will contact you. Your child can receive services for the best possible development from both these programs.
  • We will help you apply for a supplemental insurance called Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH). This can help with the medical costs related to hearing loss.
  • If your child is in school, we may talk to you about FM systems, your child’s educational rights, and educational resources we can give you.

We offer a support group for parents of children with hearing loss. It meets every three months. Click hear for information about the upcoming Hearing Loss Support Group dates and times.

We are happy to put you in touch with another parent whose child has a hearing loss. Talking to another parent who has been through this process can be one of the best ways to become more familiar with what you need to do for your child. Please email Kimberly Davis if you would like to meet another parent.

We also offer the Hearing Team Education Series, a free education night held every three months at the main hospital. You will learn about hearing loss and will have a chance to ask questions about your child. It is a great place to meet other parents of children with hearing loss. Click here for the Hearing Team Education Series dates and topics.
