The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is recruiting new faculty members to join a large, dynamic, and collegial group. Within the last five years, the Division has doubled its number of faculty and has consistently ranked in the top 10 in the U.S.News and World Report (current #7 ranking).
The Division includes 16 gastroenterologists, six PNPs and over 40 dedicated pediatric gastroenterology nurses, research coordinators, dietitians, and social workers working together within a state of the art 25,000 sq ft multi-functional GI Center (Outpatient Clinics, treatment rooms, endoscopy suites, conference rooms, provider, and support offices). Our clinical services span all general GI disorders with special focused clinics for children with IBD, celiac disease, eosinophilic disorders, motility problems, autism, and children requiring significant intestinal support services. We also have an active and internationally renowned basic and translational research faculty housed at the Nationwide Children’s Research Institute and headed by Dr. John Barnard. The exponential growth and success of the research institute provides opportunities for collaboration and funding.
A competitive and successful fellowship program has just expanded in 2012 for recruitment of three general GI fellows annually. Nationwide Children's Hospital also has one of the two nationally offered advanced fellowship in motility.
To complement our strengths, we plan to expand our outstanding clinical team. Our goal to continue to provide and develop further innovative diagnostic and therapeutic interventions for children with gastrointestinal, liver, and nutrition diseases. We seek to recruit the following new faculty members:
Gastroenterologist Clinician-Educator: Two faculty members at any academic rank with primary clinical responsibilities. This position will focus on providing excellent clinical care and teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows. Interest in clinical research will be actively supported.
Pediatric Gastroenterologist IBD Medical Director: A faculty member at any academic rank with IBD Center leadership interest to hold the responsibilities of Medical Director. This individual would also have a focus interest to serve as Director of IBD Quality and/or IBD Research with possibility of added responsibilities over time. The position includes both outpatient and inpatient clinical practice with medical student/resident/fellow teaching opportunities.
Gastroenterologist with an interest in Hepatology: One to two faculty members at any academic rank in a clinician-educator or clinician-scientist track with an interest or certification in Hepatology. These individuals should be committed to clinical excellence with a passion for teaching. Interest in clinical research will be actively supported.
A successful applicant will be offered a competitive compensation package, with bonus incentives that also include a generous benefits package, potential student loan repayment assistance and relocation assistance. Individuals are provided the ability to develop new multi-discipline or focused programs.
