Proud to be a MagnetTM Hospital

A Message from our CNO

Welcome to your search for nursing information at Nationwide Children's Hospital. Whether you are new to the idea of becoming a nurse or an experienced RN looking for a new work atmosphere, we're glad you've come to us. In April 2005, Nationwide Children's became the first Children’s Hospital in Ohio to receive MagnetTM Recognition. MagnetTM Recognition is named as such because these hospitals attract and retain the best nursing professionals, which is our goal in Nursing at Nationwide Children's. This distinction recognizes what we have always known about our nurses and the excellence in patient care they provide. MagnetTM recognized hospitals exhibit improved nurse-to-patient ratios, increased levels of patient satisfaction, reduced mortality and morbidity rates and significantly higher educational preparation of the registered nurse workforce.

With full certainty, I believe that the ANCC evaluators witnessed the pride, genuine concern for children, family-centered care, and teams working together which we strive for everyday in our clinics and on our units. What I see at Nationwide Children's is a high-performing team caring enough for their patients to go the extra mile to strive to be better. Excellent patient care happens when nursing staff have the right education, correct levels of staff to provide care, and use research and evidence as the basis for their decisions. This is not only my opinion, but the opinion of our current nursing staff. Read more of their thoughts and why they chose Nationwide Children's on our Nursing Testimonials page. Along with providing resources for those looking into becoming a nurse, we have also provided information in these pages explaining why Nationwide Children's may be the place for you. MagnetTM has provided us the roadmap to stay the course for an excellent practice environment and to challenge ourselves to improve for retention and for recruitment.

We look forward to sharing in your search for information for your Nursing Career. Please send us any of your inquires through our Ask Nursing Recruitment form so that we may help you find what you are looking for.

Best Regards,

Linda Stoverock, RN

MagnetTM Recognition
Nationwide Children’s has once again received the highest achievement in nursing excellence.

On August 19, 2009, Nationwide Children’s was re-designated as a MagnetTM hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This prestigious recognition is the ultimate benchmark in nursing excellence, measuring quality care and innovations in nursing practice. MagnetTM re-designation is awarded to just 2 percent of hospitals across the country.

Nationwide Children’s was the first freestanding pediatric hospital in Ohio to achieve MagnetTM status in 2005 and this latest designation will stand until 2013.
