In an effort to keep families safe and healthy Children's Institute for Pediatric Education now brings educational programs to your school. Fifteen percent (15%) of all proceeds from the programs will be donated back to schools.
How does the program work?
A school liaison works with Children's Hospital to organize the class.
What does Children's Hospital Do?
Children's provides everything needed for the educational session including instructors, educational materials, confirmation letters and certificates of completion, if applicable.

First Steps... Infant Care Class is for the new, expecting or adopting parent to learn about basic baby care. We know that new parents have a lot of questions about caring for their babuy and keeping him healthy- so our teachers are especially prepared to address your concerns.
This workshop is designed for coaches who instuct youth programs at the elementary, middle and high school levels and recreation leagues. Parent coaches and other interested parties are welcome.
Nationwide Children's Hospital is an approved provider of the Ohio Department of Education Pupil Activity First Aid programs. This program fulfills the requirements for the two (2) hour - three year validation for participants.
Active Parenting is a six-part series of interactive parenting classes combining videos and facilitated discussion that addresses the major issues facing today's families. The class was developed for adult parents who want new insight into parenting today's kids. We offer three different classes.
– This class is Active Parenting with Teens (for parents of kids age13-18)
The Autism Academy provides educational sessions for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, including Autism, Asperger’s and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). These sessions are also opened to others within the community interested in knowing more specific information about autism. The program is not designed to substitute for on-going treatment nor will be geared to the specifics of individual children.
This basics class is recommended for teh newly diagnosed , for those who are feeling overwhelmed in understanding their child's problems and treatment options or for those in the community wh would like a better understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Adoption Academy offers prospective adoptive parents educational programs from an objective source. Our goal is to bring information together in a comprehensive and sensitive manner to help prospective parents make informed adoption choices. The Academy has three tracks.
The four week CORE Track examines issues all prospective adoptive parents need to address The Domestic Track is for those interested in adopting children in the United States The International Track is for those interested in adopting abroad We recommend all participants attend the CORE Track as it lays the foundation for the more specialized Domestic and International Series.
This Academy is intended to be an introduction to the choices prospective adoptive parents have. Taking this class may not satisfy the detailed educational requirements of county children's service agencies for adoptions they process.

Participants will learn about accommodations and modifications that may be appropriate for children with hearing loss and how to request these services on your child's IEP. Children age 9 and older are welcome to attend with their parents. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers.

First Steps... Infant Care Class is for the new, expecting or adopting parent to learn about basic baby care. We know that new parents have a lot of questions about caring for their babuy and keeping him healthy- so our teachers are especially prepared to address your concerns.
This four (4) session program is designed to increase parent effectiveness in helping their children develop pro-social skills-specifically the skills of anger management.

Session will focus on working with the school to provide modifications your chhild with Asperger's Syndrome needs in order to achieve overall school success, including social and functional living goals. Evening will include insight into developing realistic modification plans that meet the specific needs of children with Asperger's.

Families of Children’s Hospital’s Intensive Behavioral Intervention Program will now have an opportunity for their staff to receive the training that is needed for ensuring the highest quality of care for their children. A series of trainings will meet the needs of the families by providing on-going and more intensive training of the staff who work with their children, to ensure they have the most up to date information on behavioral principles and how to effectively implement these procedures with children with autism spectrum disorders.
These programs will focus on basic principles of behavioral interventions. We will be discussing the history of these techniques and how the processes can be successfully implemented with children with autism. We will also discuss principles of applied behavior analysis to decrease negative behaviors while improving positive behaviors.

Ongoing medical care is a key component of helping a child with Autism Spectrum disorders. Successful coordination of that care and preparing children for doctors' appointments takes careful planning. This session will discuss best practices for coordination of care, collarboration between providers to endure open communication and a team approach and preparing children for medical visits from the dentist to yearly physicals.
