YU LABORATORY
Currently we are investigating the details of gene copy number variations in human autoimmune, neurological and infectious diseases. We are funded by the NIH to study the genetic and clinical risk factors of human systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We are a member of the Ohio SLE Study Group that consists of four research teams headed by Dr. Lee Hebert, Dr. Brad Rovin, Dr. Dan Birmingham and Dr. Chack-Yung Yu.
Our laboratory is specialized in molecular genetic analyses of human complex diseases. Our lab is recognized for the characterization of the RCCX modules and gene copy number variations of human complement components C4A and C4B. We apply a variety of genotyping and phenotyping techniques in our research projects, which include real-time PCR, genomic restriction fragment length polymorphism, DNA sequencing, pulsed field gel electrophoresis, immunofixation, immunodiffusion and flow cytometry.
