Brief Description of Rehabilitation:

Our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit is located within Children’s Hospital. We are proud to be accredited by both the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF). We offer a Comprehensive Pediatric Family-Centered Care Inpatient Rehabilitation Program. Our Day Treatment Program can be customized to meet the needs of the patient/family. Our Rehabilitation Clinic is established for follow-up visits, as well as evaluation for potential admission.

    • Admission Criteria
    Consideration for admission includes that the patient and/or family:
  • be medically stable

  • have potential to tolerate three hours of therapeutic intervention per day

  • able to follow one-step commands consistently or in the case of patients with traumatic brain injuries be at a Rancho level III or greater.

  • have preliminary plans for discharge established

  • have training and educational needs of the care givers

  • have needs and goals that could be met by the services/programs we offer

  • we also take rehab patients who may be on a ventilator

    Patient and Family Involvement                                    
    We recognize that the parents/family are the constant in the child's life. Patients and families always come first on our Rehab Team. Patients and families are asked to identify their goals of rehab upon admission, as well as ongoing weekly goals towards discharge. Patients and families are involved in collaboration of their care and decision making throughout their rehab stay  

                                    

    Sleeping Options                                    
    Visitation for parents is 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Extended family and friends are asked to visit during regular hospital visiting hours (see hospital resourse section).
    One parent is able to sleep in the child's room. The Ronald McDonald house is located on campus and provides rooms for a donation of $10.00 a night.
