Clinical, Teaching & Research Interests*:

Richard D. Shell, MD, is a member of the Section of Pulmonary Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He is Associate Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Clinic. His clinical interest is in cystic fibrosis research. He is an active member of the Therapeutic Development Network of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where he helps to run multiple clinical trials at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. His other research interests are with children with bronchopulmonary dysplasia, asthma, Jeune’s syndrome and the pulmonary complications of Neuromuscular disease. He is also active in many of the physician development courses offered through the medical school and is currently the Associate director of the Pediatric Clerkship. In 2005, Dr. Shell won the excellence in teaching award from the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He serves on the family advisory council for the Families of SMA Foundation.
