Monthly classes provide opportunity for parents of teens to gain insight on mental health challenges their children may face
COLUMBUS, OH, March 17, 2009 — Nationwide Children’s Hospital announced today its course offering schedule for the 2009 educational series, Teen Academy. This program provides an opportunity for parents of teens with a wide range of mental health challenges to gain objective insights from experts at Nationwide Children’s Behavioral Health Services. Classes are held once every month beginning Tuesday, March 24 and concluding in December.
This series is designed for parents and/or teachers concerned about their teen’s mental health. It provides an opportunity for those who desire to learn more about common adolescent mental heath issues and their treatments. Teens are welcome to join their parents.
It is important to note that although this program does not replace counseling and program speakers may not comment on individual care plans, Teen Academy does provide information on specific adolescent mental health issues and identify common strategies for helping parents of adolescents.
Teen Academy is held once each month 7 – 9 p.m. at various Nationwide Children’s locations detailed below (see full schedule below). Each class is $10 per person.
For registration or for more information, contact Nationwide Children’s Community Education by e-mail at Community.Education@NationwideChildrens.org or call (614) 355-0662.
