The mission of the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Physiology Laboratory is to assess the ability of patients to perform physical activities at home, school, work and recreation. The laboratory is equipped and staffed to perform clinical exercise testing, rehabilitative exercise and clinical research. A laboratory report of clinical exercise test results is designed to assist the referring physician in making health care decisions and providing recommendations to the patient's family. The key elements of the report are anthropometric measurements, routine pulmonary function studies, 12-lead electrocardiogram, arterial blood pressure, pulmonary gas exchange, metabolic rate, work rate and a physician's interpretation. Additional services include stress echocardiography and exercise prescription.
