Emmett Whitaker, MD, is an attending anesthesiologist at Nationwide Children's Hospital as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Whitaker earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and Spanish from Niagara University and his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He received his anesthesiology training from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland where he served as chief resident for 6 months. Dr. Whitaker then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiologists. His clinical and research interests focus on neuroanesthesia, the effects of anesthetics on the developing brain, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration. He conducts his translational research under the mentorship of Fievos Christofi, PhD in the Tzagournis Biomedical Research Facility at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
