Dual Pediatrics Residency Interview Process :: Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio

Dual Pediatrics Residency Interview Process

At Nationwide Children's Hospital and Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, we take pride in the relationship between our faculty and housestaff.  This relationship begins at the interview when prospective housestaff meet faculty and present housestaff while learning about key aspects of the program.  Accordingly, the interview is a most important and rewarding component of our application process.

Where to stay overnight

The program will cover the cost (room, tax, and parking) at a nearby hotel (The Westin Columbus) for applicants needing accommodations the evening before their interview.  If you will need a hotel room for an additional night, those arrangements should be made thru the residency office vs. reserving on your own so please discuss when scheduling your interview.  A credit card will be required at check-in for any additional charges.  (Our office will handle all reservations).

Please do not call the 1-800-Westin reservation line to confirm your reservation as we deal directly with the local Westin hotel.  If you wish to confirm your reservation, just call Debbie Turpening at 614-722-4410 approximately 3 days before your scheduled arrival.  However, you do not need a confirmation number to check-in.  Just give them your last name when you check in and your room will be ready.  Check-in at the Westin is 3pm.

Transportation will be provided from the hotel to Nationwide Children's and back to the hotel at the end of your interview day at approximately 2:45 p.m. (Checkout time is 3:30 p.m., so you will have time to change and pack at the end of your day.)

Where to report

If you are not staying at the Westin, we request that you meet the others at the Westin by 6:40am and ride the shuttle with the rest of the applicants to Doctors Hospital and to Nationwide Children's Hospital and back to the hotel.  You can valet park your car and your parking can be validated at the front desk when you return at the end of your interview day.

Evening before interview dinner

Applicants (and significant others) are invited to join a few of our residents for a casual dinner the night before your interview.  The residents will pick you up at the Westin (High Street entrance) at 7:00pm.  You will receive an e-mail invitation to dinner approximately 10 days before your interview.  Please reply when you receive the invitation indicating if you plan to attend the dinner.  Attire at dinner is casual so jeans are acceptable.

Transportation from the airport to the Westin

If you will be traveling by air and need transportation from the Port Columbus International Airport to The Westin Columbus, there are several shuttle and taxi services located on the ground transportation level of the airport.  The cost is approximately $30 each way.

Significant other job search assistance
