Applying to the Dual Pediatrics Residency Program :: Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, Ohio

Applying to the Dual Pediatric Residency Program

Who Can Apply?
The Nationwide Children's Hospital/ Doctors Hospital Pediatric Residency Training Program only accepts applications from students who have graduated or will be graduating from an accredited osteopathic medical college. It is dually accredited by both the ACGME and AOA, but is considered an osteopathic residency program. ERAS will not stop MDs from applying to the Dual Program; however, we do not accept MDs to our program. MDs and DOs can both apply to the Nationwide Children's Hospital/Ohio State University categorical peds program, which is accredited by ACGME. The categorical peds program is a separate pediatric program. For information about that option, contact Kathy Trace 614-722-4414.

The Dual Program accepts applications in ERAS from July 15-November 4. To begin selecting programs, click on the Programs tab in MyERAS. You can search by program and state or by AOA number. The Dual Program’s AOA number is 126135 and you can find us under “Osteopathic Residency Programs".

Register For the AOA Match
Registration with ERAS does not mean you are registered for the AOA Match. If you intend to participate in the AOA Match, you must contact National Matching Services to register. The Dual Program at Nationwide Children's Hospital/Doctors Hospital only participates in the osteopathic match; to be chosen for our program, you must register with NMS.

Want to set up a fourth-year medical student rotation with us?

Each year The Ohio State University College of Medicine (OSUMC) accepts a limited number of students from AOA and LCME accredited schools. All students from outside institutions wishing to complete a fourth-year medical student rotation here at Nationwide Children’s must apply through the electronic, online VSAS system.

The application process has been delineated into three sections. You can find additional information about the visiting student application process on OSUMC's website. Once on the page, please select Osteopathic Visiting Medical Students.

US/Canadian/Osteopathic Visiting Students
OSUMC accepts applications for electives through the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) offered by the American Association of Medical Colleges (AAMC). To apply, please complete and submit the electronic VSAS application.

OSUMC has begun accepting applications and will process received, completed, and approved applications on a first come, first serve basis.  It is extremely important to submit your application as early as possible as our rotations fill up quickly.  Notification of an accepted application will be sent to you via e-mail from Arlinda Perryman at OSUMC.

You may search the VSAS Electives Catalog for more information about course offerings.
