Heather Souders, DODO: Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Blacksburg, Virginia

Residency: Penn State University Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania

Research Interests: Dr. Souders research is focused on anxiety of school-age youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The overarching long-term objective of her research is to improve anxiety treatments for children with ASD. Her study aims to examine the feasibility, tolerability, and effects of N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) in youth with ASD and anxiety disorders; measure oxidative stress pre and post NAC treatment; and estimate necessary sample size in order to justify a prospective randomized controlled trial.
