Hospital Go-To Guide
Our new, 12-story main hospital adds 750,000 square feet of clinical space. A groundbreaking research facility adds a third building to our top 10 NIH-funded Research Institute. Convenient underground parking frees up six acres of green space for trees, pathways and gardens. And a LEED-certified Central Energy plant makes the entire enterprise environmentally friendly. Our new campus totals over 2.1 million square feet for the overall expansion. In conjunction with the campus expansion, Nationwide Children’s has also reached out into the surrounding neighborhood with an expansive community revitalization effort; Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Families.

Nationwide Children's Hospital will open the doors to a new main hospital and third research building in June 2012. Our campus expansion project will redefine how care is delivered.
We approached the design and construction of our campus expansion with the same commitment we approach our patient care. The team assembled represents the very best in the fields of architecture and design. They worked alongside our medical staff, and our patients and their families, who provided design input. We built a full-scale mock-up of a hospital floor. We built a Level One trauma room. We built fully equipped and furnished patient rooms. We built nurses stations. Then we analyzed. Refined. And perfected.
Since a group of central Ohio women first dreamed of this hospital, and we’ve grown from a local treasure to a national resource, our mission has remained the same. Improve the lives of children regardless of a family’s ability to pay. As the city celebrates its bicentennial in 2012, Nationwide Children’s celebrates the biggest achievement in its 120-year history, changing both the Columbus skyline and the future of pediatric care. Because when a child needs a hospital, everything matters.
