Be The Reason :: Nationwide Children’s Hospital

At Nationwide Children’s, the largest pediatric hospital in the country, there are a million stories. There are stories of children healed, of families supported, and of researchers empowered to make new discoveries. We see patients from all 50 states in the country and more than 50 nations worldwide.

We see too many sad stories. Children still get cancer. Children are still born prematurely. We must do more to help them, and we know that we can never take a day off.

The Be The Reason campaign is a fundraising effort to ensure that children get the care they need, and that the scientists get the necessary support to continue to look for cures. We are thrilled to be led in this effort by Ann I. Wolfe as campaign chair, augmented by Abigail Wexner and Alex Fischer as co-chairs.

As announced in June of this year, Nationwide Children’s is embarking upon an ambitious expansion, featuring an ambulatory building providing primary care, dental services, and adolescent medicine; a cutting edge research building to support basic, clinical, translational and health services research; and a Behavioral Health Pavilion that will be the most comprehensive of its kind nationally; among other much needed enhancements. Be The Reason will help support the tremendous investments required for such an ambitious expansion, but world-class facilities alone don’t heal children. Therefore, Be The Reason will also raise money to support innovative programming in areas like behavioral health, cutting edge scientific innovations in genomics, and a commitment to ensuring that Nationwide Children’s recruits and retains the very best and brightest clinicians.

In the philanthropic industry, Be The Reason is currently in what is known as a “private” or “quiet” phase, where the campaign duration and financial goal are explored, and campaign funding priorities are refined and finalized. We look forward to revealing full details surrounding the priorities, needs, progress, successes, and goals of the Be The Reason campaign by 2017.

Yet we do know now, most assuredly, that children need our help. In the coming months, we will share the stories of Be The Reason with you. You will learn about our determined and brave children, our world renowned doctors and staff, and the supportive leaders who are helping provide a better future for all children.

You will experience their stories. And you will learn how you can Be The Reason.
