About the Sports Medicine Athletic Training Internship
What is the Student Athletic Trainer Internship Program?
The Sports Medicine Deparment at Nationwide Children’s Hospital offers undergraduate college athletic training students the opportunity to enhance their athletic training clinical education with 6 week and 10 week internships.
The purpose of the program is to:

Educate the undergraduate student on the various roles of health care professionals in the field of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine.

Expose the undergraduate student to the occupation of a clinical Certified Athletic Trainer.

Provide the undergraduate student with hands-on experience in the clinical environment as a health care professional in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine.
What are the Qualifications for the Athletic Training Internship Program?

All students interested in applying for the undergraduate student athletic training Internship Program must be accepted in the CAATE accredited athletic training program at the university they are attending.

There should be a contract affiliation agreement with Sports Medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the University. If the student’s university does not have an agreement, the Sports Medicine Department will coordinate establishing the agreement with the Program Director of the university’s athletic training program.

Complete and submit the required application process for the Internship Program.
Athletic Training Internship Timeline
The start and end dates for our Athletic Training Internship are very flexible in order to best fit the student's schedules. We do however try to stay within the following terms.

Fall Term - August-November Application Deadline: June 30th

Spring Term - March-June Application Deadline: January 31st

Summer - May-August Application Deadline: March 31st
