Divorce Mediation Services

The Behavioral Health Services comprehensive approach to care is provided by a multidisciplinary team – which may include a psychiatrist, developmental-behavioral pediatrician, nurse practitioner, psychologist, clinical social worker, and clinical counselor – to determine the best treatment options for each child and adolescent.

The Divorce Mediation Services Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital provides a range of brief preventive services for children and parents going through divorce, separation or high conflict regarding parenting issues.

Services include counseling for parents to guide them in helping their children to adjust to the changes in their lives, counseling for children and mediation. Mediation is a problem solving process designed to help parents and caregivers resolve child-related conflicts, develop a child-rearing plan, and learn co-parenting skills. Mediation is designed to provide a non-adversarial environment for resolving conflict and is an alternative to litigation. Services are available at the time of the relationship ending or later as the children grow and new conflicts arise.
