Behavioral Health Services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital offer a comprehensive approach to support the behavioral, psychiatric and psychological needs of children, adolescents and their families. Our staff of licensed professionals is specially trained in the assessment and treatment of behavioral health conditions in children and adolescents.
Our comprehensive approach to care is provided by a multidisciplinary team – which may include a psychiatrist, developmental-behavioral pediatrician, nurse practitioner, psychologist, clinical social worker, and clinical counselor – to determine the best treatment options for each child and adolescent.

Our dedicated physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers and counselors work as a team to create an environment where patients can get the help they need. The goal is state of the art family centered care that is informed by the best available clinical science.The foundation of our approach is a partnership with patients and families. Our clinicians work with each patient and family to develop a shared understanding of the presenting problem, provide the education necessary to create truly informed consumers of care, and collaboratively develop a plan of treatment based on patient and family preferences.

Functional Abdominal Pain is a common problem in which chronic or frequent abdominal pain interferes with a child's regular activities and daily life. It is estimated to affect as many as 10 percent of children and adolescents. Nationwide Children's Hospital is looking for ways to help kids cope with this pain.
