The Center for Child and Family Advocacy at Nationwide Children's Hospital presents an unparalleled opportunity to make a powerful statement that ending child abuse and family violence is a community-wide priority. The Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, recognizing The Center's commitment to follow Joint Commission standards, which provide the framework for safe, quality care.

The Center includes the following comprehensive components:

Abuse Assessment/Investigation - The Child Assessment Center at The Center provides immediate medical assessment and treatment along with therapy and support to victims of child abuse. Here you'll find highly-trained physicians, social workers and mental health counselors working in a multi-disciplinary team to minimize trauma and to promote healing.

Family Support Program - Child abuse therapists provide treatment to abused children, their siblings and non-offending family members. Our therapists work with the child and their family to promote long-term healing and understanding, using individual, group and family models of treatment.

Prevention - Part of the mission of The Center is to be proactive in the prevention of child abuse. Reaching out to parents, caretakers and families, the Center supports statewide and local community education and media campaigns designed to identify and stop the cycle of family violence.

Education and Research - Education and research at The Center includes clinical research and outcome-based program evaluation, professional training, conferences and publications. These initiatives are aimed at increasing our understanding of child abuse and domestic violence in order to improve the lives of the children and families we serve and break the cycle of violence.
